Cheap Techniques & Fouls

Like any other sport, there are certain ‘cheap’ moves which you can do to gain an unfair advantage on an unsuspecting opponent. While these moves are of particular use in a ‘street’ situation, their tendency to injure is sufficient to ban them from sparring practice.

Such techniques include head butts, single digit (finger) locks, eye gouges, fish-hooking, finger pokes in the throat, rib gouging, groin attacks, ear attacks, hair pulling and biting. Although most will take it for granted that these types of techniques are not allowed, it is often useful to have it in writing. If you feel unsure as to whether you can apply a particular technique, check with the instructor.
